We look forward to making your visit to Japan possible.
‘What To Do’ Page
Whether you want to speed down Olympic ski slopes, participate in ancient festivals, or live the high life in glamorous shopping districts, there is something for one and all in this diverse and spectacular country. In between all of this activity you are able to enjoy Japan’s world-renowned delicious cuisine.
‘Where To Go’ Page
As specialists in Japan we can arrange your travel to any part of the country. However, we realise our customers have a limited amount of time in which to explore. We hope these pages will be useful as a brief guide to some of the most famous, scenic and historic destinations. More detailed information on each place included in your personal itinerary will be provided with your final travel documents.
‘Tours of Japan’ Page
The tours on the following pages are divided into two categories: Semi-Escorted Tours and Independent Tours. For those visiting Japan for the first time Tokyo and Kyoto will be essential stops, so are included in the majority of our tours. A variety of other destinations are combined with these to create a range of distinct itineraries. All accommodation is in Western-style hotels except where Japanese inns called Ryokan are indicated. Meals are included only where listed in the tour descriptions.

‘Independent Tours’ Page
These tours are designed to enable independent travellers to explore Japan while knowing that the detailed itinerary provided by Jaltour will ensure a trouble-free adventure. Where included, guided tours are no longer than a morning and the Japan Rail Pass is provided for long distance journeys. As well as enabling travel as directed in your itinerary, this pass also allows unlimited use of the Japan Rail network on your free days.
‘Optional Tours’ Page
Should you wish to fill the free time in your chosen Jaltour itinerary, please consider the variety of optional tours we can offer. Alternatively, if you would like us to design a tailor-made itinerary, you may want to include some of these in your programme. Please note: Days of operation are for guidance only as there are exceptions to those listed.
‘Accommodation’ Page
The most common choice of accommodation in Japan is a western-style hotel. The world-renowned international chains are represented alongside various domestic groups. Japan does not use the international star rating system, using instead a comparable system categorising accommodation as Deluxe (5 star), Superior (4 star) and Standard (3 star).
‘Japan and Beyond’ Page
Jaltour is happy to arrange a tour, which incorporates a range of other places, should you wish to combine another destination with your trip to Japan. For such an itinerary, the expertise of our colleagues in each of these countries will be added to our own knowledge of Japan, in order to tailor-make your ideal package.
