Due to the topography of Japan, there are ski areas throughout the east of the country. All areas have guaranteed powder snow from December to late-March, with some areas until late May. The plentiful slopes of Nagano and Niigata provide variety and convenience to Tokyo, while in the northern island of Hokkaido you can be skiing from mid-November on world-class slopes with spectacular scenery. While après ski is available with a number of resort pubs and bars available, the Japanese way is to have soothing soak in a natural hot spring before enjoying delicious local cuisine.
