Ryokan Accommodation
A night at a Japanese-style inn known as a ryokan or minshuku can become a highlight of your tour. You will experience unique Japanese customs and etiquette from the moment you remove your shoes at the door. From sleeping on a futon on tatami (straw matting floor) to eating traditional Japanese dinner & breakfast usually made with seasonal local specialties, the kind and diligent hospitality provided by your hosts will delight you.
Ryokan vary in style from traditional wooden inns, to more modern hotel style with traditional style rooms within. Whichever you stay at, you can expect the same wonderful hospitality.
All the ryokan we choose have rooms with a private bathroom and toilet and dinner & breakfast is included. The ryokan will also have either a communal bath or hot spring (onsen) where you can experience this relaxing and sociable custom.
Some areas of Japan will not have ryokan available and you will stay in minshuku accommodation. Generally, this type of accommodation will have shared bathroom & toilet facilities (often you will be able to reserve time to use the bathroom privately) and dinner & breakfast is included.
As we have an extensive range of ryokan available, they cannot all be displayed. Please contact Jaltour should you require further information about staying in a ryokan.
