Experience a stay in traditional temple lodging (Shukubo) and enjoy traditional vegetarian meals as eaten by monks, whilst being fully-immersed in the fascinating history of Mount Koya and its temples that date back as far as 805 A.D.
Itinerary
| Day 1 | London - Tokyo Depart London on a direct flight to Tokyo. |
| Day 2 | Tokyo Transfer by airport bus to your hotel. Stay for 4 nights. |
| Day 3 | Tokyo Morning sightseeing tour of Tokyo, including Tokyo Tower Observatory. Imperial Palace Plaza and Asakusa Kannon Temple. Afternoon free. |
| Day 4 | Tokyo Free to explore Tokyo, or you may take an optional tour. |
| Day 5 | Tokyo - Hakone Travel by express train to Hakone. Free to explore the Hakone National Park using the Hakone Free Pass. Stay overnight. |
| Day 6 | Hakone - Takayama Transfer to Odawara Station using the Hakone Free Pass. Use your Japan Rail Pass to travel by bullet train and express train to Takayama. Stay for 3 nights. |
| Day 7 | Takayama Free to explore Takayama. |
| Day 8 | Takayama - Shirakawago - Takayama Visit the World Heritage listed villages Shirakawago and Gokayama, famed for unique architecture called Gassho-Zukuri. A return bus ticket to Shirakawago is provided. |
| Day 9 | Takayama - Kyoto Transfer by express train and bullet train to Kyoto using your Japan Rail Pass. Stay for 3 nights. |
| Day 10 | Kyoto Morning sightseeing tour of Kyoto, including the Golden Pavilion, Nijo Castle, and Imperial Palace / Nishi-Honganji Temple. Afternoon free. |
| Day 11 | Kyoto Free to explore Kyoto, or you may take an optional tour. |
| Day 12 | Kyoto - Mt. Koya (D) Travel by train to Mt. Koya.* Stay overnight at a temple lodging. |
| Day 13 | Mt. Koya - Osaka (B) Travel by train to Osaka and stay overnight. |
| Day 14 | Osaka - London Transfer independently to Osaka Itami Airport. Depart on a flight to London via Tokyo, arriving the same day. |
