Tours ideal for travellers who appreciate the local knowledge of a guide, but who also enjoy some freedom to experience places independently. On our Semi-Escorted tours you will join guided tours varying in length from a morning to several days. However, in between these you are free to explore, with the aid of extensive information provided by Jaltour.

World Heritage Sites

Todaiji Temple, NaraJapan has a number of UNESCO World Heritage Sites; the guided tour introduces you to just some of the spectacular sites in Nikko, Shirakawago, and Kyoto.


Itinerary

Day 1 London – Tokyo
Depart London on a non-stop Japan Airlines flight to Tokyo.
Day 2 Tokyo
Transfer by public airport bus to Tokyo. Stay for 4 nights.
Day 3 Tokyo
Morning sightseeing tour of Tokyo, including Imperial Palace and Meiji Shrine. Afternoon free.
Day 4 Tokyo - Nikko - Tokyo (L)
Full-day sightseeing tour to Nikko, visiting the fabulous Toshogu Shrine and Kegon Waterfall.
Day 5 Tokyo
Free to explore Tokyo, or you may take an optional tour.
Day 6 Tokyo - Mt. Fuji & Hakone (L)
Depart Tokyo with a guide for Hakone, visiting Fuji Visitor Centre and the 5th Station of Mt. Fuji on the way; enjoy afternoon sightseeing in Hakone National Park, including Hakone Ropeway, Owakudani Valley and a Lake Ashi cruise. Stay overnight.
Day 7 Hakone - Takayama
Transfer with guide by bus to Odawara, and then travel by bullet train and express train to Takayama. In the afternoon, visit Yatai Kaikan Hall and Kusakabe Folkcraft Museum. Stay overnight.
Day 8 Takayama - Shirakawago - Kanazawa
Visit the Takayama morning market before travelling by coach to the World Heritage listed villages Shirakawago and Gokayama, famed for unique architecture called Gassho-Zukuri. Continue to Kanazawa by coach. Stay overnight.
Day 9 Kanazawa - Kyoto
Morning sightseeing tour of Kanazawa, including Kenrokuen Garden, one of the Japan’s three most beautiful traditional gardens, Kutaniyaki Pottery Kiln and the Nakamachi Samurai District. Transfer to Kyoto by express train. Stay for 4 nights.
Day 10 Kyoto - Nara - Kyoto (L)
Morning sightseeing tour of Kyoto, including Nijo Castle, Kyoto Imperial Palace and Golden Pavilion in the morning. After lunch, travel to Nara visiting Todaiji Temple, famous for its Great Buddha, and Kasuga Shrine. Return to Kyoto.
Day 11-12 Kyoto
Free to explore Kyoto, or you may take optional tours.
Day 13 Kyoto - London
Transfer by shuttle bus to Osaka Kansai Airport. Take a domestic flight to Tokyo Narita for non-stop Japan Airlines flight to London, arriving the same day.
*Upgrade to a ryokan stay in Kyoto available
