Historically, Kyushu was an important entry-point for foreign influence through Nagasaki, the second site of the atomic bomb strike in World War Ⅱ.
Nearby Fukuoka has grown to become the island’s biggest city.
Kyushu’s dramatic volcanic landscapes provide many fabulous Onsen. Onsen towns such as Yufuin, Korokawa and Beppu offer various types of Onsen, including mud baths and sand spas alongside incredible scenery.
Central Kyushu will bring you to Kumamoto with its castle and close proximity to the stunning Mt. Aso – one of the world’s oldest and largest active caldera.
Kagoshima is home to one of the most active volcanoes in Japan – Sakurajima and the Kirishima mountain range which is great for outdoor adventures.
